Excimerlight Enters North America With Filter-Free 222 nm Far-UVC Platform

Published 24 May 2026 · original 16 May 2026 · based on GlobeNewswire

Far-UVC manufacturer Excimerlight has announced its market entry into North America with a KrCl-excimer platform spanning 3 W to 1000 W. The vendor claims its lamp-optical architecture suppresses out-of-band emission above 230 nm in the source itself, eliminating the degrading bandpass filter that has been the Achilles heel of the dominant Ushio Care222-class platforms.

What happened

Excimerlight has entered the North American market with its filter-free 222 nm krypton-chloride excimer platform. Power range 3 W to 1000 W; the vendor specifies narrowband "222 nm ± 2 nm" emission.

Why it matters

The Far-UVC mainstream (Ushio Care222 plus licensees Acuity Brands, UV Medico, UVX) relies on a filtered KrCl lamp — an optical bandpass filter suppresses out-of-band emission above 230 nm that no longer falls within the skin-tolerance window. The filter is the life-cycle-critical maintenance item: it ages (transmission loss, spectral drift toward 230 nm), and its replacement schedule is commonly underestimated.

If Excimerlight's architecture claim holds up, this maintenance item disappears entirely. Engineering data on long-term spectral stability of filter-free platforms is still thin in 2026 — independent spectrometer comparisons Care222 vs. Excimerlight have not yet been published.

Context for LUVEX readers

For DE/EU project planning the ACGIH vs. ICNIRP asymmetry remains the dominant compliance factor regardless of vendor — see the deeper treatment in the Atlas-Article on Far-UVC 222 nm Technology Status 2026.
